Writing a review for a Chinese food establishment such as Food Wall, who's business is 98% take-out, usually to drunks and fattys like myself, is a waste of time. And I've got time to waste. Its nothing more than you might expect. The menu is larger than the phone book, boasts nothing original, but is far from disappointing. Its tough to highlight an outstanding positive or negative aspect of Food Wall's business. You should know exactly what you're getting when you order. And should you be surprised by the selection, quality, or service then I hope you had fun ordering take-out for the first time EVER. Welcome to our world. Its always off-putting ordering pick up from my place two doors down and being told that my Pu-Pu Platter for 15 (which I can easily scarf down myself) will be ready in 5 minutes. But thats what you get; A meal flash-fried with love. I do steal their newspaper on most weekdays, before they open. So, I should tack on an extra star for that.. But naw... No. That has nothing to do with the food.

Unbelievably fast delivery...great food (chicken and broccoli better than average, wonton soup, yum!) and REALLY affordable. Small size of entree ordered and still have enough leftovers for another meal. Will definitely go back!

This place is pretty good. Decent prices and lots of food. I have never actually been to the location, but their delivery is great. Here is my usual experience. (LCL: Little Chinese Lady. She may not be a litle chinese lady, but that is what she sounds like) Ring.... ring .... ring..... LCL: food wall..... Me: I want to place an order for delivery. LCL: Ok, what you want? Me: I will take one order of Kung Po Chicken (it is spelled this way on the menu) one of General Tso's Chicken and a quart of Hot and Sour Soup. LCL: Ok, your total is [cheap, cheap, cheap].... What is your address? Me: I live at ...(did you really think I would give you my address?) LCL: Ok, we will be there soon.... Me: Wait, can I pay by credit card? LCL: Ok, what is the number? Me: My card number is...(again, do you really think you are getting my CC number?) LCL: Ok, see you soon. The food arrives in about 30 minutes. It is hot, and there is a ton of it. I usually pack the leftovers for lunch the next day. All this for usually around $20 for 2 people. Not bad. If you live in the JP area and you get a craving for some Americanized Chinese food, I have two words for you.... FOOD WALL!!!!

This restaurant = AMAZING CHINESE TAKEOUT. It's delicious and has huge servings. If you're looking for delivery, this is the place. Get the crab rangoons, chicken wings, dumplings, and house special lo mein.

For my money, the best Chinese take-out in JP. Now, you might say that's not much of a competition; after all, that Chinese place by the Monument is now closed, and Charlie Chan's is a bout of food poisoning waiting to happen. Still, Food Wall is pretty tasty! Not authentic by any means, but no one comes here expecting some authentic Chinese experience; they come here for salty, greasy, spicy goodness that's pretty good when you're sober and absolutely transcendent when you're drunk.

4 Recommendations: -- Curry chicken -- General Taos chicken -- SINGAPORE RICE NOODLES! -- Beef teryaki I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the food was spicy so if you are a weakling, beware. I on the other hand am a spice connoisseur, so i was in heaven.

Now look, folks, we're all guilty every now and then of having one too many drinks, and we've all made the mistake after that occasional one-drink-too-many of deciding that a crab rangoon is a great idea. In the situation described above, the Food Wall is perfect. The crab rangoons are fried crispy, they'll sear the taste buds right off your tongue (which means you won't have to retaste them in the event that they make a second appearance later in the evening), and they are always accompanied by ample quantities of terrifyingly, garishly (delicious) pink sauce. In an added bonus, there will be enough alcohol circulating in your system to disinfect everything as it hits your stomach. In the event that the criteria described in the first paragraph of this review, or similar criteria, are not met, I would keep moving in my search for culinary nirvana.

Food Wall once again proved its greatness when, one bottle of wine into a not-so-great Netflix I got a straight-on craving for moo shoo chicken and fried rice. And it was 12:30. The order was placed and hot and satisfying dishes were at the doorstep within twenty minutes. The moo shoo was fresh, plum sauce a delight (really the only reason I get moo shoo) and the fried rice about as tasty as takeout gets. The point: Food Wall isn't the best Chinese food you'll ever eat, but it satisfies every once in a while. Also, anyone who delivers until the wee hours of the morning automatically gets an extra star in my universe.

While it's not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination, Food Wall always comes through with quality Chinese take-out. I've eaten here so many times that it just seems dishonest to give the place anything less than four stars. There are a load of vegetarian/vegan food offerings, which is a definite plus for me and my boyfriend. Perhaps best of all, Food Wall's menu boasts a ton of curry dishes, which is delightful, and they will actually make your food extra spicy upon request. The delivery time is hit or miss, and on the whole, I'd say it's only average. If you're close enough and/or hungry enough, I suggest picking up your food. Recently, it has taken them well over an hour (several times) to get to my apartment...and that's only Hyde Square to Forest Hills. Still, for the mere $2.50 delivery fee (plus tip) and the convenience of not leaving my house (especially when it's freezing out), it can be worth it. Food Wall is ridiculously cheap, especially considering how generous their portions are. I've eaten here so many times it's scary. Definitely the best Chinese take-out in JP.

Look, this place doesn't have award winning food, but I've certainly eaten at far worse (Charlie Chan's down the street). The prices are cheap, they're open late, and they will honestly get to your house faster than paramedics. They once made it to my house in 7 minutes. 7! As in, from the time the phone was hung up, and when my buzzer rang was more than 6 minutes - but still less than 8! And man were those some delicious 7 minute 2am dumplings. They must have some sort of time machine such that they can make the food and then send it back to when you ordered it and then bring it to your house in a helicopter. The beef chow fun is good if you ask for it EXTRA SPICY - you just have to be able to handle spicy.

  • Brian D.

Now you deliver to me. Great. Now I'm even fatter and lazier. At least I have to walk down and then BACK UP my stairs when my order gets here. I still stand by the wings though now I wish they would grow on my back to lift my weighty carcass up this 1 flight of heathen stairs. Oh, yes, and the Kung Pao get's me feeling naughty. Take that as you will.

  • Kayle S.

Well, I've ordered from here dozens of times now, and I think I'm going to have to stop. It was better than the VA cafeteria, but now there's a new place in town: Wok n Talk! w00t! Bye bye crappy Chinese food, hello fresh stir fry!

Chinese takeout is intended to be slightly greasy and over the top. It's a crapshoot finding the right takeout place, because there's a fine line between that ugh feeling from eating greasy Chinese takeout and sitting on the couch in your PJs, and that worse-than-ugh feeling from eating BAD Chinese takeout. So take it from me and the other yelpers, this is the right place. A couple great things Foodwall has going for it: *they're open late (2:30 on the weekends) * they deliver- not always super fast, but they get it there *they do not use MSG, except like, in the soup broth or something *it's cheap as F*^k The sesame chicken's dang tasty, and the sauce for the scallion pancakes must have some sort of opiate in it, because they give me mad heartburn and I always order them again anyway. I've never gotten them, but I am also filled with delight that they have fried plantains. I think it just sums up all that is right and good about living in a city that the Chinese delivery place has fried plantains. USE CAUTION- Great Wall is not the same place, and they flyer like crazy, and the names are similar, so it would be easy to accidentally confuse them. You want Foodwall, not Great Wall.

  • Joel G.

The best Chinese food in JP. Period. You go down Centre St and you have two restaurants that are flat out gross. Eat here with confidence.

    (4)
  • patrick w.

i feel bad because I used to always order from Great Wall, not Food Wall, but frankly the food is better at Food Wall and the delivery is fast and cheap ($2.50 plus tip). They screwed up one order, but immediately brought the replacement without fuss.

    (3)
  • Celeste M.

Oh Food Wall. I used to live right down the street and my roommate and I would always get you. You delivered when she was feeling especially lazy (but I liked to pick up cause there's a liquor store next door). You gave me pretty good crab rangoon and pork dumplings I should have been embarrassed to eat. But I wasn't. I liked the way the dumplings would squirt out dumpling juice and I ignored the fact that the pork didn't really resemble pork. My bf and I went to get you on some epic night that we were up late before driving to Jersey. We left the trunk open in the rain, which was hilarious. We thought the car got broken into, but no, we just forgot to close it. We laughed all the way home and ate you, and I thought you were alright!!!! But then my boyfriend got sick. And so I am no longer allowed to order out from Food Wall. :( There is a Chinese food hole in my heart since there are no other local places I want to order from. Sadness.

    (3)
  • Tom N.

Definitely the best Chinese food takeout in Jamaica Plain. The vegetables are always fresh, the meat is top quality (for a Chinese takeout), and the portions extremely generous and more than reasonably priced.

    (4)
  • R G.

food wall is not really bad by boston chinese take out standards, but it's not great either. it's inexpensive and seems relatively fresh-- I've actually seen them cook my food, so it's not sitting in a vat all day. everything could be just a bit more flavorful. meat dishes are on the better end. vegetable dishes tend to be a bit watery from my experience. and noodles? well, I can't really say. I've tried to order chow mein twice (I much prefer it to lo mein) and both times it's just been chopped stir-fried vegetables sent with a little packet of gross, bought-in crunchy noodles to sprinkle on top. the first time, I thought they got my order wrong, but I guess that's just how they do it? so, avoid that.

    (2)
  • D L.

Not great, not terrible. It's cheap and a better option than Charlie Chan's. Their delivery is pretty fast, too.

    (3)
  • Random S.

food wall, not a bad second choice when your first choice is closed, but personally i don't like the quality of their food but when it comes down too it, its acceptable =)

    (3)
  • Kristina M.

I used to be loyal customer of Great Wall, but I agree with Patrick W. that the food is better at Food Wall (read: tastier and more spicy). Yes, it's greasy Americanized Pseudo-Chinese food, but sometimes that's just what you want and for those times Food Wall rocks. Food is cheap and delivery reasonably quick. They do seem to have an awful lot of trouble understanding me on the phone though, which makes calling them somewhat awkward. Still, when feeling lazy and in the mood for some Spicy Tofu, this is the place. Plus, they're open late! I noticed that Great Wall and Food Wall have identical menus, so I wonder whether both are actually run by the same family?

    (3)
  • F C.

Have had options off of the "healthy" menu and the steamed dumplings. Excellent on all counts. Four stars - once, my order clearly left with another customer. They don't take names/phone numbers when you place orders for delivery or pickup. Probably an oversight on their part, but kind of glaring.

    (4)
  • George W.

Four stars for what it is. Open late, fast delivery, across the street from the best pub in town, next door to a liquor store, reasonably priced, lots of vegan/veggie options (though it makes no difference to me), and tastes good. Salt and pepper chicken ftw.

  • Jeffrey H.

It's like the 'Hole in the Wall' store's big brother (refer to my 'Hole in the Wall' store review to understand). Random McRandom take-out restaurant fulfilled my needs of quick, greasy, artery-clogging deliciousness. This is by far no Chinese food to brag about, but if you're in Jamaica Plain and need a quick fix on some dinner at a reasonable price, I have no reason not to recommend Food Wall. The place is tiny (I don't even recall a place to sit) so be prepared to grab n' go. The guy behind the counter was really nice and he was helpful when the dumb white girl, Jenna C, forgot what item she was supposed to order for her girl... Jenna: Hmmm, I think I'm forgetting something... Chinese Man: Crab Rangoon? Jenna: YES! Chinese Man's inner thoughts: Stupid White Girl. I'd hit it again.

    (3)
  • Jenna C.

The ultimate cheap take out! It's greasy but DELICIOUS. One of the best places to get americanized "chinese food". I love the feeling of my arteries clogging as I scarf down egg rolls, lo mein, and dumplings! My body is probably cursing the day I discovered this place but it's too late... there's not looking back. The portions are big which is great if you like leftovers (although I'm not really sure how well this would carry over to the next day) and it's so cheap. I agree with Maggie W. that at first glance this place is sketchtastic. It's tiny and is definitely meant for take out with only 2 small tables to sit at while you wait. But the staff is beyond nice and really funny. And it's right across from the Behan so you can stumble across the street when you're wated and get yourself some food to sober up!

Yum, I ordered the salt n pepper wings and pad thai tonight from this place. My sister and I loved it. Perfectly crispy fried chicken, so deelish. Also we ordered it as delivery and it arrived pretty quick, when you're hungry, that's all you can ask for

    (4)
  • Beck N.

They deliver, they take debit card, they are quick & relatively inexpensive (save for the $2.50 delivery charge). Oh - & did I mention they are tasty? I had the chicken cashew dish at a friend's & have fallen in love - it is now my go-to order (& is only $5.75 for the small which will feed me 2 meals). Hubby got the Generals combo plate which included some yummy fried rice, a chicken teriyaki stick & an egg roll. I also really like their crab rangoons - a little different since I think they have scallions or something in them. Not a fan of the beef teriyaki, though. It was small, chewy & extremely salty.

    (4)
  • S L.

Pretty fast service. Small place. Average food. I didn't love it or hate it; I've had way better Chinese food. I wouldn't go back unless it was my only choice.

  • Michelle B.

Food Wall has a special place in my heart because they deliver until 2:30 AM. This has been a drunk / lazy day ordering favorite for awhile, even if the food isn't particularly good. We've had a lot of different dishes off the menu, and the best are probably the beef and broccoli, General Tso's chicken, Sesame chicken, the chicken teriyaki and chicken wings. The crab rangoon is okay, but a bit too cream cheese-y for me. I'm not a huge fan of the fried rice, it has a not entirely pleasant after-taste, so I usually opt for the white rice instead or the about average lo mein. The combination plates all come with rice and either an egg roll and an appetizer, or just a single appetizer (depending on which combination plates you choose from). They're all reasonably priced, ranging from $4.50 to about $8. It's definitely one of the faster delivery places around here and they rarely make mistakes with your order. The only reason to actually go there and pick up your food is to get the cute little toys that are in the vending machines inside.

  • Nick O.

I ordered take out from this place tonight. I got the chicken fried rice and the shredded chicken with garlic, onions, etc. The people seemed nice, so I feel bad about saying this, but the food was atrocious. It just tasted very bad. I struggled through it for a little bit, but almost all of it is going into the trash. I felt sick afterwards, but I don't think there was anything poisonous about the food: it was likely just a psychosomatic, PTSD type of thing. Again, I feel bad saying this. Others seem to like it, so maybe it's just me. The food seemed sanitary at least.

  • Kyle P.

Great Chinese takeaway. The dumplings are amazing, you don't even need the sauce it comes with. Also the lo-mein was great, not to greasy. I called 15 mins before I picked it up, very fast. Defiantly the place for Chinese takeaway in JP.

    (3)
  • s s.

Decent takeout Chinese, not the best, not the worst. Fast, fast, fast. They don't shy away from heat which is nice, it's not bland and gloppy. But it's not Mandarin Gourmet or even Joy Rice China Cafe down Washington which has tastier tofu dishes. My favorite is the vegetable fried rice, which I think they actually do quite well. If you're in the area, you could do a LOT worse.

    (3)
  • D M.

I might be partial because they were blocks from my old house, but I still get delivery from them whenever I am in the mood for some spicy tofu. It has always been good from my experiences, but I know some haven't had as good experiences. I like their crab rangoons as well, but haven't had them in a while. They are also right next to the video underground if you go get it yourself.

FOOD WALL IS CHINESE FOR BEWARE . OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. YOU GET THE IDEA. Eat their magically super greasy food and get ready to never see you abdominal wall agian. Overall, Spend your money on something else. Yes yes, we know they are open till late hours, but baby, just eat some fruit. I ordered a small order of sweet and sour chicken & OMG, I have never seen that much such a nasty vivid toxic red sauce in my life. It tasted like make up and lipstick.

When I was 23 yrs old and smoking an eighth a week their number was in my cell phone under "General Tso".

  • Mark S.

Best pan fried dumplings in the city. It's also open late night and is cheap so when you and your friends are across the way at the Brendan Behan Pub gettng a little sauced up and are fishing through your pockets for a crumpled up dollar bill and wanna grab a bite before going back to the homestead to play a late night game of trivial pursuit, Food Wall is there. That may be a run-on sentence.

    (4)
  • Aretha B.

Yaay food wall! The pan fried peking ravioli are in fact pretty good. But I would take the first bite and then tip them upside down to release a tidal wave of grease. But once that's drained? Mmmmmmmmm. Note: I've also had the curry beef dumplings but they just weren't that good. The dough was super ... bready and extremely heavy and hard. This is your standard greasy chopstick chinese takeout place, but it's not a depressing last resort at all! My boyfriend got the egg foo young (sp?) with pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs. It was all fairly tasty, not bland like Brigham Circle chinese. The gravy was served on the side and it was greasy but tasty at 1:30am. CHEAP AS FUCK. Right down the street. yaay.

  • Stephen S.

I don't actually know if Food Wall has a storefront or even a building; for all I know they are warping Chinese food into JP from a dimensional tear. BUT: When I moved here I asked everyone I knew to tell me where the best places for delivery were and literally every single person said "Food Wall" and they are 1000% right. When my stomach decides that it is Lazy Night, Food Wall is basically my secret boyfriend. It's not life-changing and it's sort of greasy and sometimes it is gross the next day but there is a very real place in this world for "greasy, middling takeout Chinese," especially when they give you enough for like four meals. I mean, there is some leftover lo mein in my fridge RIGHT NOW. Without Food Wall I might be sort of lost.

    (4)
  • Matthew M.

Food Wall does not serve Chinese food. Food wall primarily sells "sweet-and-sour" chicken and egg rolls. This is, in fact, not Chinese food as actual Chinese people don't eat such things. If you want actual Chinese food in Boston you pretty much have to go to chinatown. To be fair, if you want Chinese-inspired American food like egg rolls and "chicken fingers" (what makes people think fried chicken is particularly "Chinese" anyway ... ?) then I guess Food Wall is as good a place to get it as any other. This is why I generously give it two stars rather than only one (also, Brendan Behan is accross the street, so the gree-zy appetizers from Food Wall make good pub grub). Just remember: actual Chinese-style food is served in chinatown, while American-style "Chinese" food (picture me making air quotation marks) is what predominates elsewhere (although I hear there is real Chinese food in Allston and in Cambridge, I have not yet had a chance to confirm this). In case you're curious, wikipedia has a great explanation of the difference between these types of food at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am…

Thanks for the reviews, everyone! Took everyone's opinions into consideration & ended up ordering the Kung Po Tofu for myself (small was more than enough, especially with appetizers), which was very tasty. Also got the pan seared dumplings, moo shu chicken, and crab rangoon (which was better than I've had in a long time). I think we found our new Chinese take-out place!!! Thanks everyone!

  • johnny r.

This place is a solid go to for take out chinese...They give you ample quantity meat in their dishes and the combo meals are quite a deal!

    (4)
  • Jean J.

This is our go-to place when we are hungry and don't want to cook. It's inexpensive and good, and there is a TON of food. We order there enough that when we deviate from our usual, the lady asks to make sure there wasn't a mistake! The down side? For some reason, no one ever seems to find our house. Delivery can take a little time, but it's worth it.

    (4)
  • Marguerite R.

Just about the worst Chinese food I've ever had--greasy, flavorless, full of food dye--and it arrived 15 minutes before scheduled and before I was ready for it. Even the so-called sweet and sour chicken was nothing like what I'm used to--it was breaded and fried (Chinese chicken fingers, perhaps?). If you're used to good Chinese food, avoid this place.

    (1)
  • Allie S.

I constantly crave this place. Curry dumplings are absolutely incredible, as is General Tso's Tofu. It's also cheap as hell, open late, and delivers. After my experience with Charlie Chan's, Food Wall has renewed my faith in JP Chinese food.

    (4)
  • Seyda C.

Great veggie dumplings. Just ask for them steamed rather than fried. It's $7 for a large so you can't go wrong with that. Overall, everything I have gotten here has been fresh and good.

    (4)
  • Dave G.

Chinese fast food. Food Wall, Great Wall, Wall Wall. What's the difference? What are any of these reviews going to tell you besides you won't die if you eat here? If you don't want to cook and want "Chinese" food, you're all set. If you want for real Chinese food, go to Jojo Taipei in Allston or Taiwan Cafe in Chinatown. (Fine, they're both Taiwanese, whatever.)

    (3)
  • Tim B.

Best greasy, Americanized Chinese food ever. Plus they deliver very quickly and it's always hot! Go for the noodle dishes, but don't bother with the egg rolls. The pork-fried rice might knock a few years of your life but it's sooooooo worth it.

    (4)
  • Ashley A.

I know it's hard to believe that a greasy chinese take-out place anywhere has redeeming qualities, but hear me out. I've got an hour break for dinner. I make the phone call as i'm walking out of the building. I'm in Food Wall in 2 minutes flat. My food is ready 3 minutes later. It never fails, and i'm not sure how exactly they do it (logistically, it doesn't make sense) but every menu item i've ordered from them was less than a 7 minute wait. I'm not sure it offers anything spectacular in quality, but what it lacks in creativity it makes up for in consistency and price. Chinese food is so spotty, you're never certain what greasy brown gravy meat you've ordered, but I've never had a bad dish and they do all the favorites quite well. The General Tso's chicken is a personal fave and the meat is actually recognizable as poultry. The wonton soup costs about $2 and really helps keep the winter chill away. But my guilty pleasure is definitely the scallion pancake. A gut-busting meal is usually under $12 and way within my poor-kid budget. Also important: delivery til 2:30, and they don't make fun of you for drunk slurring on the phone. Well done.

    (3)
  • Corey L.

Food Wall isn't the best Chinese around, BUT its pretty damn good, cheap as hell, and open late. They've never screwed up my orders and the food is always hot and fresh.

    (4)
  • Joji S.

I used to order from this place when I lived on Sheridan as well as on Paul Gore St. Most of the items on the menu are not that special, except their dumplings and Kung Pao Tofu. No one makes Kung Pao tofu like Food Wall. I always asked for the dumplings to be pan-friend. For a while, I can honestly say I was addicted to those stuff.

It's all been said, I have yet to try the curry dumplings and my stomach is grumbling...

    (4)
  • robert o.

It was surprisingly good. We have had takeout their before and I was not impressed. I placed an order for delivery and it was excellent. We had chicken and beef teriyaki which arrived hot and flavorful. The boneless ribs were good and not as fatty as before. The rice was fresh and had chopped carrot and other fresh vegetable. The order arrived extremely fast

  • Andrew D.

if you value your stomach, dont eat the kung pao though it is tasty

    (3)
  • S B.

Steamed pork dumplings. They make northern style dumplings which have this amazing brown gravy inside and they're silky and gingery... so good. The calamari is great too. But the steamed pork dumplings... and under 5 bucks for I think 6 mongoloid dumplings... I love it. Did I mention the steamed pork dumplings?

  • sean w.

this place is pretty good. they have these things called "salt & pepper chicken wings" they are not the regular wings. the regular wings are shitty. the s&p wings are fantastic!!! also the chow foon or chow fun or whatever the fuck you call it noodles are awesome(wide rice noodles pan fried w/veggies and whatever else). spring rolls are good too! i would only recommend eating here if you have been drinking heavily because chances are you will wake up with diarrhea anyway.enjoy

man, i would eat here every day if i could. oh wait i do

    (4)
  • Mike M.

The food is the same as the majority of the ratings, average. I've always enjoyed the location more than anything else. They really scored by having a restaurant right across the street from a bar, basically ensuring those two businesses will always be there. Ain't symbiosis grand? I used to live on Gay Head St., smoked tons of weed and found myself to be too lazy to walk there. Whenever the girl would ask for the address that the order should be delivered, I always got a little giggle when I said "Gay Head". The delivery guy always had his kid go to the door while he waited in the car and was conveniently lacking in any change though, so a fistful of singles was a good thing to have.

    (3)
  • Greg M.

You really have to go to the suburbs to get good Chinese food. As far as take-out goes in the city, it really doesn't get any better than this greasy place.

    (3)
  • Robert B.

You go to Food Wall at 2 AM when you're drunk. It's perfect. For other purposes, it's pointless. Kind of like White Castle, only Chinese. Sort of.

    (3)
  • Stacie J.

Crab Rangoon. The best I've ever had. The rest I can't really stomach because I'm not the biggest fan of fast Asian food anyway. But it's cheap and never nasty, so that's something right???? Okay, so this is not my best review.

    (3)
  • Kirs P.

Is Food Wall authentic Chinese food? No, of course not! Is it even very good fake American Chinese food? Nope! But is it still awesome? You betcha. Food Wall is very good at what it does. It provides drunk and/or high people with food delivery. They have a large menu with all the drunk-eating favorites: Sweet and Sour; Fried Rice; Crab Rangoon; Deep fried everything; and lots o' Duck Sauce. They are cheap. They are fast. They have yet to screw up one of my orders. Their food has not made me ill. They are even pretty good when you just can't be bothered to cook on a Wednesday night and some fried rice sounds like a good idea. They have a half-way decent veggie menu. Overall a solid performer. In fact, they probably deserve 4 stars but I can't do it. Why, you ask? (Or not, I don't care, I'm still telling you.) Sub-par crab rangoon. The wonton is all wrong. It's too thick. I'm not sure what they use to wrap around the cream cheesy goodness, but it ain't really doin' it for me. But at least they don't give me bread with my order (see Yum Mee and/or Sunrise if you are one of those wacky New Englanders that like a roll with their Kung Pao Chicken).

everyone says this is the best chinese food place that they have ever been to. i don't understand why? it's not totally bad but its not great. It's takeout chinese food and it costs as much as if you went out to a nice fancy chinese spot.

My relationship with Food Wall began over fifteen years ago when it first opened. Back in the day I appreciated the low prices and the consistent tastiness of the food. I was pretty broke back then and felt, for what it was worth, I was getting a relatively balanced meal for my buck. These days Food Wall fails more than it succeeds. While on a rare occasion they will deliver a tasty hot meal, more often the food is lukewarm and oily. I am not kidding when I say this, we've had to wait 2 hours for the food to be delivered on more than one occasion. Because of this, I've tossed their menu out more than once, pledging "no more". But somehow I always crawled back in hopes of giving them another chance. After yet another night of lying in my bed wondering if I am going to puke from their food, the menu is being tossed, this time for good.

Be Wary of Food Wall!!! We ordered "food" from Food Wall tonight. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce combo. It came and it was in ground pork sauce (which it didn't say on the menu)with maybe 8 tiny canned shrimp. I called and said they sent the wrong dish and I asked them if they could send over something else. First they said I needed to pay for it because the one I ordered cost more, then they told me they wouldn't bring it over we lived too far. I am 10 minutes away. I tried to choke down my food and bit into a piece of pork gristle. Food Wall Stinks!!!

Anybody who says there's no good Chinese food in Jamaica Plain is one of those people who refuses to go past the Milky Way. Yes it's in the "wrong" end of JP, close to Jackson Square, but this is the best Chinese food I've found in Boston. It's cheap too, and the portions are generous. I used to go "grocery shopping" at Food Wall when I lived in Hyde Square. I'd place a large order and just live off the leftovers for days. There are two small tables, but it's primarily a take-out/delivery place.

I don't go to Food Wall for quality, and I don't go to Food Wall for authenticity. I go to Food Wall for its cheap prices and late night hours. I'll agree right off the bat that this restaurant doesn't serve "real" Chinese food. But I never expected it to. All I needed to see was the name "Food Wall," and the generic Chinese-American dishes, and I knew exactly the type of "Chinese" food I would be eating. Of course it is unhealthy, and of course it is overloaded with sugar and cornstarch, but it's the only cheap, non-Latin American restaurant that I know of in Hyde Square (not that there is anything wrong with Latin American food, but sometimes I need a change of pace!). I generally stick with bad-Chinese food standards: General Tso's chicken, crab rangoons, egg rolls, etc. All of these are decent, but not great. If you want a slightly better version of the same type of food, make the trek to Charlie Chan's, down Centre St. a ways (towards Forest Hills). But if you need something cheap, fast, and late, try out Food Wall.

Food Wall is one of those places that offer your standard American influence Chinese food but it's done GOOD! We ordered delivery- from the time I called to the time they got here was exactly 30 minutes! Super fast therefore unsurprisingly, the food was still STEAMING HOT! This is something I greatly appreciate since more often than not I need to reheat the food since it's luke warm by the time it arrives. The service over the phone and the delivery person were all very efficient and friendly. We ordered: Small Crab Ragoon (6 pcs) Small Vegetable Lo Mein Large Eggplant in Garlic Sauce Large Sesame Chicken -Meal came with a Large Container of White Rice Overall total: $35 (They do charge a delivery fee of $2.50) *** This may seem pricey for your typical Chinese American Food HOWEVER, my boyfriend and myself had this for dinner THREE nights in a row. The portion sizes are very generous and you'll definitely have plenty left over!!! *** Crab ragoons were delicious- filled with lots of cream cheese and still piping hot! Yum! Veggie Lo Mein was loaded with lots of vegetables including mushrooms, snow peas- overall this was my least favorite. I thought it could do with more soy sauce. The Sesame Chicken was delicious! It had broccoli with it which is nice. The real winner was the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce! I couldn't believe how much both my boyfriend and I loved this dish! It's loaded with veggies! And the sauce is to die for- I had to refrain myself from licking the plate clean! Definitely a keeper! Overall I think Food Wall is definitely a keeper for those nights you're going to have a night in!

Ok. So, this is one of those reviews that is for a business "given what they are." Food Wall - for an Americanized Chinese food take-out joint - is about as perfect as it comes. I have never gotten anything from this place that wasn't absolutely perfect... Then again, i'm not sure I have eaten here more than two times without being just slightly over the legal limit. If you want some perfectly wonderful fried or sautéed Americanized Chinese food - and don't want to break the bank - you cannot do any better than this place. Also of note -One time, I went to an engagement party that was catered by food wall... It was single-handedly the best catering I have ever had.

DISGUSTING!! Disgusting!! Disgusting!! Did I say disgusting? DISGUSTING!! I spent almost 40.00 on this food and it was gross!! No flavor and overcooked chicken wings and boneless ribs!! House special rice was bland with very little "house special" added to the rice!! Crab Ragoons overcooked. The Lo Mein house special rice also had no flavor and very little "house special!" It also had a bitter after taste which I guess is from MSG! The white pieces of meat in the "house specials" I am not sure it's chicken. Has a weird texture and taste. The city needs to shut this place down!! Waste of money! The entire order has gone into the trash!! If I could get My money back I would! I'll never buy from Food Wall again!! I am deeply disturbed by what I have wasted money on. I've come to the conclusion that I will not be buying anymore Chinese food from anywhere!!

I love Food Wall, it is in my neighborhood, quick and easy. The people are friendly, and the food is your standard Chinese food, with a few extras. They also have curry and pad thai!

I've been searching for an American Chinese eatery for 2 years.....now I've FINALLY found it! Food Wall is your classic neighborhood Chinese takeout, with your standard fare of sautéed and fried meats & veggies, fried rice, lo mein, and various appetizers. The Combination Plates and All Day Specials are really a deal considering generous amount of food given, and both delivery and take out are made fresh to order. The quality is leaps and bounds over other Asian fare in the area.

This is my Friday night traditional chino spot! I love this place. The food is Kind of pricier than other spots at about $9 but it's definitely justified because you get A TON of food! My meal usually lasts me 2-3 days That's how much they give you. The pork fried rice is amazing too best in boston. I have no complaint about this place and it's hard to find a good chino spot in Boston, but this is my default spot!

Food wall you are going to be my nemesis! As per previous reviews I ordered the curried chicken dumplings and they were absolutely amazing. Seriously, I might give up my first born to have them again (if I had a firstborn that is). Anyway, I also ordered the combo of twice cooked pork with pork fried rice and crab rangoon. The rice was so-so, would have been better to order brown, but that twice cooked pork was so good I had to force myself to slow down. Portion sizes are so big I could have fed 3-4 people. After my second meal I threw the rest out because really do I need 3 helpings of twice cooked pork on my thighs? Don't answer that... Delivery was fast and courteous, everything bagged up well so no strange spills as I took everything out. I will definitely be ordering from Food Wall again.

Felt that I needed to write a review of Food Wall before moving out of JP. I've never been happier with a dive-y Chinese place than I have been with Food Wall. The food is actually good - not too greasy but just greasy enough. They also make a mean crab rangoon, which is usually how I judge a Chinese place. Deliver is 30 minutes tops. I really could just go on and on about this place. Get the general gaus, dumplings, scallion pancakes, twice cooked pork.

  • Danisha J.

Ordered... Pork fried rice - tasty with the duck sauce. No fatty pieces of pork. Good. Boneless spareribs - dull looking. Had to pick through the container for ones without a lot of fat on them. They tasted okay. Chicken wings - Two of my relatives tried it and liked it. Crab rangoons - below average. Triangular shaped. Filling was lukewarm, thick, and pasty-like. I've eaten far superior tasting crab rangoons than these. Definitely would not order those again. The rice with duck sauce and edible pieces of boneless spareribs saved it for me. Overall, okay experience. Mediocre, at best. I give them a three, because I'd give them another shot.

Love it!! We took this place for granted while living in JP, then moved to West Roxbury and found there was nothing there anywhere CLOSE to Food Wall's quality. Especially good for vegetarians -- delicious eggplant, hot & spicy bean curd, kung po tofu.... And the prices are so reasonable!!

Here's the breakdown: 1. Their fried curry dumplings are unbelievable. No, seriously, it's like someone from the depths of arctic Siberia decided that the best way to stuff "pirozhki" is with seasoned, curried ground meat. Genius idea, wish I thought of it. (+2 stars) 2. This place is open late at night. For a city like Boston, that's an automatic bonus, because - surprise! - shit doesn't stay open past 10:30 PM here, ever. Seriously, Boston, what the fuck?!? You got something like 500,000 college students living here, and there's, like, three places a guy can get a burger after midnight. Get your shit together! (+1.5 stars) 3. Their food is decent. It's not going to blow you out of the water, but it's totally legit American Chinese food. All the usual staples are there (Kung Pao whatever, General Gau's chicken/beef, various steamed/fried vegetable dishes, appetizers, whatever), and they have been predictably adequate. I have been ordering from Food Wall for about 3 years now, and I have yet to get any food poisoning! (+1 star) 4. It's kind of a dive, and in a hipsterriffic place like Jamaica Plain, that takes serious balls. (+.5 stars).

    (5)
  • Shanna C.

Beef and broccoli was good, but crab ragoon awful. I would probable only order the beef and broccoli again. I give up on Chinese food in Boston. It's not the same as NYC.

  • Jamie D.

I am not a fan of Chinese food and was very sad when Charlie Chan's closed but This place is solid! My only complaint is how expensive the spring rolls are. Also IMHO the curry dumplings are good but have to much dough. Just my opinion.... The steamed gyoza would be my pick!

  • Megan D.

What does one do when faced with this serious dilemma: You could give any rating - 1 star, 2, 5 - and they would all reflect a version of your truth? Luckily for Food Wall, I consider this place to be part of my family. I just *really* wish they would figure out their curry dumpling recipe/system. When they are fresh they can be really good. Other times, I feel like I'm eating a dirty cat toy. Their service is impeccable. You call these guys at 1:45am on a Sunday morning, barely able to speak after a night of wine-drinking, and they'll be at your door by 1:59 am with food. I have no idea what you'll get, but it might be good. Food Wall, I thank you.

  • Shana P.

This place is gross. Worst food I have ever tried to eat. If I had no sense of smell, taste feel, sight, etc I still wouldn't eat here again for fear of food poisoning. Everything tasted like dish soap too. The rats that probably live in the kitchen probably don't even eat here. My husband and I have attempted 2 times now to order from here...the second was to give them a second chance..... and both times we threw it out... 30 bucks out the window twice.

  • Jose C.

This is not just a greasy hole-in-the wall. There is a sensibility here that betrays fast food. The curried beef dumplings are unique to this place, and even the house special fried rice is like none I've had before? It is not fine dining, there are just two tables, but someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing and has bumped it up...just a little. The menu is extensive, and I intend to get through the whole thing this year!

    (4)
  • Leanne C.

3.5 stars is dead on. But for ordering food after midnight, picking it up 10 minutes later and it tasting FANTASTIC, I'm willing to bump them up half a star. I only did take out so. Food-focused review here, folks. I got the Curry Vegetable. A pint/small ($4.75, heck yeah!) was SO much food. Came with white rice, and it was all super filling and mad tasty. Exact amount of spice and everything. Food Wall, even if you weren't the last choice open late at night, I'll totally choose you again. Just... get with that online ordering business!

  • Jason H.

Honestly, as far as basic American Chinese pickup/delivery in the city goes, this place is about as good as it gets. Maybe that's not saying much, as I feel like, strangely, the suburbs have better options. I personally prefer Shanghai Gate in Brooklinefor more traditional Chinese, but Food Wall has the American-Chinese market cornered, and its very cheap... Almost everything I've tried, from the Kung-Pao to General Tso to their rices and appetizers, have all been solid. Their combination plates are enormous (honestly enough for 2 people) and only about $8.

    (3)
  • Robert S.

I think 3.5 stars is perfect. If you want delicious, authentic Chinese food, don't come here. But if it's 2am, you've spent the night drinking and you're craving some drunk noms, or if you're pulling an all-nighter and are far too preoccupied to make a real meal, food wall is the spot. Their delivery is incredibly fast, the food is pretty cheap, and for crappy Asian food, it tastes incredible. As has been said here before, no order is complete without the dumplings. I always got the pan-fried pork ones, and as long as you don't examine the insides too closely (not sketchy, just weird looking), you'll be in junk food seventh heaven. The crab Rangoon is good too, as are most of their main plates (I'm partial to the sesame chicken myself).

  • Kimberly P.

Food Wall offers the most consistently good Chinese food I've had in my four years in Boston. You can go wrong with the dinner special (appetizer, entree and fried rice for under $10) and the delivery is pretty speedy. I will admit, one time I opted to do pick up and was a bit turned off by the "greasy spoon" kitchen but hey... ignorance is bliss... especially when it comes to delicious food.

Decent Chinese. Nothing to write home about but one of the few options in JP so it will get you by.

I used to live up Centre St from Food Wall. One night I called, inquiring on some exotic menu item, like a the "Happy Family" or the "Special Wong" I did not even get the entire question out of my mouth, when the Food Wall employee yelled into the phone "Are you calling to order, or complain?" Good Grief! Nuff said.

I don't miss anything at all about Boston...and I never want to move back. I don't miss the symplicity of the subway system, red sox fans, or even the stand that sells lemonade with a scoop of watermelon slush on the common. However, for the past 2+ years since i moved to nyc, I have not been able to move on from the memory of Food Wall's dumplings, particularly their veggie dumplings. For five dollars you get 6 fat ass delicious perfect dumplings. Its enough for a meal. I miss the dipping sauce as well. These dumplings come fried or steamed, and are delicious either way. The contents of Food Wall's dumplings are wrapped in a thick and sturdy dough that stays together as you eat them, making them even more satisfying and filling as a meal. Ive had other ok dumplings in nyc, Prosperity in chinatown was good. But I have yet to find a replacement for Food Wall. Maybe I should put an ad out. Seriously, Im really looking for something to take its place.

Food wall, I love you. I think mainly, I order food wall to go with my beer at the Behan, but there's no way it can make it taste THAT MUCH better. Cuz it is just damn good. I love the Tofu & Vegetable. I love the Veg Fried Rice (had for the first time last night). I do not love their low mein, or that their sesame noodles awkwardly come with the sauce on and shiz on the side. But I am crazy about their scallion pancakes. In general, just winning. So glad I've got this in my 'hood.

  • Carpenter A.

Delicious fatty yum: crab rangoon, beef dumplings, curry chips, pork fried rice... Super healthy: plain steamed veggies with tofu and rice - add your own seasonings at home. It's literally just plain steamed veggies and tofu, but a great late night delivery if you are hungry, the fridge is empty, and you don't feel like doing the regular fare from the Wall. We love Food Wall!

    (4)
  • J K.

Boston lacks good chinese food. It's just a scientifically proven fact (I read about it in JAMA last month). Food Wall is a saving grace in JP. I refuse to go back to Charlie Chan's and I think that's about all we're left with on the centre st strip, so alas, Food Wall it is. And I really love it. Their dumplings are on point, the fried rice is just enough, and I don't feel terribly ill when I eat it. Love you forever, food wall.

    (4)
  • Kevin T.

The pork dumplings helped me through a hard 2 year stretch of my life called Grad School. I lived around the corner from foodwall. You can do no wrong when you are drinking and need a quick snack - in the form of their pork dumplings. I hold all other pork dumplings to this standard.

  • Felicity N.

Ok, so this place is pretty ghetto but if you are craving some cheap Americanized Chinese deliciousness in your mouth right now, this is the place. You can easily split any of their combos with two people and still have leftovers. The first time I came to food wall I spent 12 dollars and walked out with a bag that felt like it was weighted with a brick. Its greasy and tasty and I have never been sick any of the four times I have eaten food from here!

  • Dean V.

Just ordered the pu pu platter and will never go back - both the bbq spare ribs and beef terriyaki were so bad ~ spoiled that both the smell and tainted flavor came through the spices. this was the second attempt - and last try for Food Wall. BTW: check out the Boston Health Department site "Mayor's Food Court" for more info ( cityofboston.gov/isd/hea… ) It shouldn't take four inspection to pass (ie regular inspection and then 3 follow ups before "pass").

Ah, Food Wall. Yes, it's an evocative name. Yes, the fried pork dumplings are to die for. Yes, they are super fast whether your order for pick up or delivery. No, there is no where to sit there (and you probably wouldn't want to if there was). No, let's not ponder how on earth they can get the food ready so quickly. On a side note, I would like to address food poisoning concerns. We have all heard other people's stories of that night they got food poisoning from Chinese/Thai/Indian. But let's be honest, the people who usually divulge these stories are sensitive, porcelain stomach people with milquetoast tastes. I don't mean to be harsh here, but I'm sure we can all guess that most episodes of "food poisoning" that people relate about ethnic food places occur in the setting of either boozing too much or nervous bowel situations. In conclusion, order the large beef and broccoli and the large fried pork dumplings, grab some beer at the liquor store next door, and enjoy yourself. If it doesn't go down as nicely as say, a Bertucci's roll, no one really cares. And please don't document the event on Yelp.

I live in JP and this is by far the go-to place for chinese food in the area. In fact I like it more than many places in e.g. Chinatown. I can only talk about the vegetarian dishes which are pretty good! Chow-fan with vegetables and tofu, solid. Curry chow-mei-fan with tofu, awesome (you can ask them to replace the angel-hair noodles with chow-fan noodles if you want). The veggie Moo-shoo tofu is also a very solid dish. My girlfriend says the curried won-ton soup is definitely worth multiple repeats. However, it is the kung-pao tofu keeps me coming back for more. The scallion pancakes are ok as are the fried spring rolls but nothing to write home about. As to the other reviewers, I do not find them rude, simply business oriented. If you do not understand Asian cultures then don't bother trying to talk to them. They are very business oriented but when I have tried to talk to them on a not-very-busy day they have always been very nice. Going back for more kung-pao tonight.

This is my go-to take out Chinese joint in JP. Lately, though, the quality has been slacking. A little greasier than usual. And on a normal night I'm delighted (and frankly surprised) by quality veggies in the mix but lately?...they've been pretty limp and gross. I don't know what's goin' on, but the last two orders made me think I should be looking elsewhere for my Chinese fix. I do, however, always recommend getting some of this and bringing it over to the Behan. It is ALWAYS delicious this way.

Must be drunk when eating here. Experience: The staff is friendly and since it's take out/delivery only there's not much interaction needed. Food: (If you're sober) This has got to be one of the worst Chinese food ever! How do you mess up simple dishes like beef chow fun or have kung pao chicken not be spicy at all? If you're sober then order the basic Americanized dishes. The general gao's chicken, sweat & sour chicken, and any appetizer are tolerable. If you want something that's actually Chinese, go somewhere else. (If you're drunk) Does it matter what you eat? You will think this is grade A authentic Chinese. Overall: I come here a lot when I'm borderline passing out drunk to when I'm absolutely starving and can eat my own arm. I must say it's only somewhat tolerable when I'm about to pass out onto my rice. It was even disappointing when I was sober and starving. I think my mistake there was being coherent. Eat at your own risk.

I have to say my frist time eating at this Chinese place and it was delicious. Ate Pork Fried Rice, Boneless Spare Ribs and Lobster Sauce & it was amazing. Definitely have to try this place AGAIN!

I am spoiled living so close to Food Wall since they deliver in about 5 minutes! I almost always order the chicken chow fun which is full of chicken, flat noodles and some veggies. I also love their General Tso's chicken which is not too spicy and comes with white or brown rice and broccoli. Also love the crab rangoons and spring rolls. The staff is very friendly too!

This is a toughie right here... I have soft spot for Foodwall, living in the neighborhood for a couple years it was my go to spot for shitty Chinese food. And when I say "shitty Chinese food" I mean that with the best of intentions. Everyone knows the difference between true authentic Asian food and "5 dollars for 3 pounds of super greasy lo mein topped off with chicken fingers for days." At this spot you're going to get the latter. They know who their \ customers are and their food reflects that knowledge. You definitely get the most bang for your buck here. You can literally go in there with an Abe Lincoln and leave with dinner for 4. Have I loved the H3 (Chicken finger / Crab Rangoon / Pork Fried Rice= approx 4.72 lbs.) since day one? Yes. Has my best friend barfed in his lap after eating one sparerib from their illustrious PuPu Platter for Two? Yes. Will I ever stop eating at Foodwall? Fuck no. WIth delivery till 3am and the stupidly cheap prices, you would be a fool to not give them your business. I mean, you're going to be hungover as shit anyways, you might as well get a whopping platter of the sloppiest Chinese food you've ever had. Foodwall kills it. If you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed. Really friendly dudes that work there, too!

  • Nicole P.

If you are looking for greasy Chinese takeout, this is WOOHOO! As good as it gets! They also have some decent non-greasy food, but I mean, what's the fun in that? On the actually decent side, I really enjoy the Szechuan Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken (although I thought the General Tso's was a little spicy, but I'm a weakling). If I'm calling Food Wall, however, it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm craving fried food, and the Sweet and Sour Chicken or Sweet and Sour Combo with a small Crab Rangoon will make you pass out for greasy deliciousness.

    (5)
  • Chuck K.

This is the best Chinese take-out in JP. But on an absolute, Platonic scale: how good is THAT? Answer: Pretty fucking good. Yes, the Chinese food is still Americanized and a tad on the salty-greasy side, just a tad. But: the food is made quick, the place is open very late and 7 days a week, and they deliver. It's delightful to stoners and to other human beings. I'm a huge fan of the chicken with ginger, scallion, onions that comes heavily peppered (#86); I swear that it can instantly cure a head/chest cold: it makes war on mucus! Here's an awesome story from Food Wall: I ordered some food and a 2-liter *DIET* Coke. (For health reasons, I have to limit my sugar-intake.) The dude delivered my food in a jiffy but he brought over a regular Coke. I complained. He took a quick look at his receipt and saw I was right. So ho hopped in his car, drove back to Food Wall, and re-delivered my drink quickly and with no 'tude. What an effin' hero! Finally, we should note that "Food Wall" is an absolutely hilarious name. Can you imagine a giant wall made, not from concrete or masonry, but out of little boxes of moo-shu or lo mein? Chow fun! Also: their website useful and attractive and they take calls quickly and efficiently. For what it is, it's the best.

  • Brenda S.

Food wall kills it! Definitely my favorite chinese in the area. They have a lot of great vegetarian options - the general tso's tofu and the tofu lo mein are favorites of mine. Their veggie dumplings are awesome - huge, freshly made dumplings with thick, soft dumpling dough and crispy veggies inside. They are not your run of the mill frozen then deep fried dumplings. Get them steamed, not fried. Also, at $5 for 6 HUGE dumplings, they are totally a bargain. Another plus of Food Wall? It's Hyde Square location is perfect for grabbing late-night chinese and taking it across the street to Brendan Beehan's Pub!

  • Adam E.

I can't say it any better than Jenna C. or Maggie W. But I'll add this- Chinese food can be a very risky maneuver, especially in the city. With Food Wall, you can go for the staples and be safe. I get Food Wall more often than I should, and when I do here's what I get: Beef with Broccoli- it's really, really good. I know, beef sounds scary. But dayum. And when you get the All Day Special, it comes with rice and an appetizer for like $7!! I choose white rice instead of Pork Fried, to fool myself into thinking it won't give me a heart attack. Chicken Wings- I don't know why or how, but Food Wall chicken wings are amazing! And after a long night of debauchery, this is just what you need.

    (4)
  • Angela V.

Food was bomb!!!!! The combo plates come with pork fried rice, teriyaki chicken, and an egg roll. The general tsos chicken was great. Large portions for an ok price, I've definitely gotten cheaper food elsewhere. Delivery was a bit slow but it is a Saturday night.

  • Evan R.

Oh, Food Wall. I lived almost directly behind them for a year and gave them tons of business. There is nothing too special about them by any sense of the mean, but they hold a very steady consistency with their quality and speed of service. Definitely a take-out/delivery joint. If you take it for what it is then you'll find that it's pretty good.

Recently re-tried the veggie egg roll (as part of the All-Day Special, which is a GREAT freaking deal. You get an absolutely unreal amount of food for like $7), and it was great! I don't know what happened the first time I had one, but they've obviously worked it out. And those all-day specials. Good lord. Obesity, here I come!

This place is great. Exactly what you would expect from takeout chinese food and it's quick and open late. Some of the best drunk food you can get in the area.

At first, I was ecstatic about Food Wall. It's super accessible from my place in JP, lots of variety on the menu, and had the dishes I wanted. HOWEVER I ordered vegetarian dumplings and even though it said VEG on the receipt, there was clearly meat in them. Luckily, I did not bite into one, but cut it open and saw the meat, but that is still unacceptable. I'm willing to try them again because their rice and veggies were SO GOOD (fresh, flavorful, not overcooked) but this is a serious strike against them. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who doesn't have dietary restrictions or anyone who is vigilant enough to double-check their "vegetarian" food before they leave.

This is the ONLY place I order Chinese take-out from now. When I'm in the mood for Chinese, I've found the food to be consistently fantastic: well-cooked and just what I was looking for. Fast service, good prices, delivery is always prompt and friendly.

Good, cheap, freshly made food, mainly for take out though they do have two tables if you must. Quick turnaround, exceptionally fast and friendly delivery. And they have curry chips so you can have some with your beer at the fabulous Brendan Behan Pub across the street! LOVE Food Wall.

How have I missed this place? Really, really good (and pretty fresh) take-out. And it puts the cheap in cheap (not to mention the fast in fast). Kung Po Tofu is yummy. Pan-seared dumplings ditto (as opposed to some of those you buy that taste like the mystery meat inside actually came from the cat food aisle of the Stop-n-Shop). Moo Shu is good--not great, but you'll eat it.

Delivery was super quick and the prices were reasonable for the amount of the food, but the quality of the food was super disappointing, given the prior reviews on here. The fried rice (both house special and chicken) had no flavor, the lo mein was greasy and also flavourless and the chicken teriyaki was the saltiest I've ever had. However, the crab rangoons were decent and the beef teriyaki was really, really good. So maybe I'll try it again one day when I'm feeling lazy and don't have people over. I'm willing to give Food Wall a second chance at some point, just not right now.

My place to go for a teriyaki or eggroll fix. Double cooked pork still the fave. Right in my hood and reasonably priced.

The best chinese take out in the area I think. Granted I'm comparing it to Charlie Chans which is pretty much a kick in the balls to Chinese food Americana... oh well. My favorite thing here is the General Tso's. Also, their steamed/fried dumplings are amazing! I also really like their pork fried rice. One thing that needs some work, crab rangoons... Charlie Chan's got ya beat on that. Other than that, I love it!

Best cheap, Americanized Chinese food in the area.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
